The cold lab is a specialty lab, in that it has been designed for a specific purpose. It functions as a refrigerated/freezer laboratory space. It has some of the standard features like white and red lights, window light blanking plates, and laboratory grade flooring. The cold van has some special features. That help it accomplish the function it was designed for, providing a refrigerated/freezer laboratory space. These special features include:
· Vestibule area
· Two-stage refrigeration unit provides dehumidified chilled air
· Cooled make up air system (for the flume hood)
· Extra insulation
· SS wall coverings
· Monitoring alarms and recording systems for temperature
